Asked by geckomom {71} http://kimhaas.com 8/4/2010 1:40:58 PM I love the autocorrect feature in Word. I also find myself using the same shortcuts in other programs without the feature. Text expanders can work in all programs. What are the best text expanders you've used? |

| Jana Williamson I have not used text expanders except for auto correct in Word. I hear varying ways of use them. Some say you can create shortcuts like autocorrect and other say you have to choose from a list of options while typing. The later would slow me down as I have had a program like that in the past and could never regain speed from have to chose from a list. Saturday, August 07, 2010 | ||
| Tracie Ramirez I use text expanders every day in Word. Even for doctors names and such. You just have to make them unique and then you don`t have to choose from a list. (Example: Type UME and out pops IKychukwu C. Umezurike, M.D.) Violia! Saturday, August 07, 2010 | ||
| Jamie May Definitely a progam called Shorthand. I`ve been using it for years and it`s great! Saturday, August 07, 2010 | ||
| Sandra Branin Tracie, Most assuredly point taken.. With a name like that and having to type that out.. My brain would fry! :) I use the word/text expander with our transcription platform! Saturday, August 07, 2010 | ||
| Cathy Taylor Couldn`t work w/o my expander! I add to it almost every day and when I had to restore my computer then purchase a new one, it was the first thing I saved. A tech support person accidentally deleted my newest verson yesterday and I spent 45 min on the phone with another tech support getting the saved version from April transported to my ESP file so I could use it...wouldn`t work w/o it! | Rose Ellen Morello Dippolito What is a text expander? I use auto correct. Is it better? Saturday, August 07, 2010 | ||
| Sharon Kays They are immensely helpful and can double your production. The more the merrier. I used tpt for example and The patient pops up. Even simple ones like that for common phrases increase your production. Or phrases like HISTORY OF PRESENT ILLNESS: by typing in hpi. Whole frequently used paragraphs can also amazingly be entered by typing in just a few matching letters!! Expanders are truly AMAZING! Of course you are required to create them first to your needs, but once they are entered, voil Saturday, August 07, 2010 | ||
