I don't think it needs to be overly complex. I recommend password protecting your computer and locking the door to your home office. Of course you lock the door to the house and now someone would have to break into your house, break into the office and then figure out your password. I believe these small recommendations would meet HIPAA requirements. Kind regards, Henry Majoue - http://www.voiceautomated.com |

Great answer Henry. Another good practice is to use a password to deactivate your screen saver. You might think you need to get up from your computer for only a minute, but things can happen unexpectedly to keep you away for longer, in which case you will want to protect any client files that may be on your computer screen. - geckomom 8/19/2010 2:05:59 AM | Flag |

| Kristin Robinson I keep my computer in a room seperate from everyone else and when I am gone I now lock that room to keep anyone else out. I also only use my work computer for work. Friday, August 06, 2010 | ||

| Ann Greene Donetta is right - we all like to think of it as a HIPP(O) or HIPP(A) on our back, but really it is a HIP(AA) on our back... Thanks Donetta Saturday, August 07, 2010 | ||
